JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Good Morning! United States (US) secretary of state Michael Pompeo and secretary of defense Mark Esper will travel to Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka, and Maldives starting Oct. 25 to 30. He will travel to Jakarta to meet with his Indonesian counterparts to affirm the two countries’ vision of a free and open Indo - Pacific.
The minister have same agenda in New Delhi, Colombo. In India, he also will lead the third annual US - India 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue to advance the US - India Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership.
While, Japanese Prime Minister, Yoshihide Suga, warned China on their moves in the South China Sea. He also noted that the vision of a free and open Indo - Pacific does not target any specific country. During his visit to Indonesia and Vietnam, he has agreed to supply Southeast Asian governments with patrol boats to secure their coasts amid tensions in the South China Sea.
While, US lawmakers had not reached an agreement on the stimulus package by late Wednesday. President Donald Trump blasted Democrats, accusing them of being unwilling to compromise.
In Europe, for the first time, the block are issuing social bonds on the global bond market to raise money and help keep Europeans in jobs. The European Commission announced has raised EUR17 billion from the issuances.
In Indonesia, thousands of workers will hit the street again to reject the Omnibus Law for Job Creation. The war between the government and demonstrators has continued since the regulation was enacted.
On Wednesday, Indonesian Rupiah closed up 0.17 percent to 14,633 compared to the US Dollar. And the Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) slightly weakened 0.07 percent to 5,096.45 versus the previous day.
For today, the analysts predicted that investors still wait and see on the US stimulus. While, in the country, the market players is also wait and see because of the certainty Indonesia’ economic enter the recession and the increasing number of COVID-19 cases.
But, they added, there are a positive sentiment came from the foreign capital inflows and from the government bond market. With this information, they rated that Rupiah is expected to move in the range of 14,615 - 14,670 versus the US Dollar and JCI in the range of 5,023 - 5,106.
Stocks to be watch for today are PT Bank Mandiri Tbk (IDX: BMRI), PT Vale Indonesia Tbk (IDX: INCO), PT Astra International tbk (IDX: ASII), PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (IDX: BBCA), PT Unilever Indonesia Tbk (IDX: UNVR), and PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia Tbk (IDX: BBRI).
