JAKARTA (TheInsiderStories) - Public works and housing ministry of Indonesia prepared six toll road projects in the first quarter of 2021, said the government official on Tuesday (11/17). The projects is estimating needs an investment around Rp70.47 trillion (US$5.033 billion) and some are complement the existing toll roads.
According to the director general at the ministry, Eko D. Heripoerwanto, his office has planned to carry out the procurement of Implementing Business Entities for six toll roads along 208.73 kilometers (km). The projects are Makassar Maros Sungguminasa Takalar Freeway along 48.12 km with costs Rp9.87 trillion, Batam - Bintan Bridge 14.75 Km (Rp8.62 trillion), and Semanan - Balaraja Toll Road owned by PT Alam Sutera Realty Tbk (IDX: ASRI) and PT Perentjana Djaja with lenght 32.39 km (Rp15.53 trillion).
Then, Bogor - Serpong Toll Road via Parung along 31.1 km (Rp8.95 trillion) and South Sentul - West Karawang Toll Road with lenght 61.5 km (Rp15.37 trillion), both owned by PT Pama Persada Nusantara. In addition, Semarang Harbor Toll Road run by consortium of PT Sumber Mitra Jaya and PT Waskita Toll Road along 20.86 km (Rp12.13 trillion)
Next year, the ministry is planning to offer 13 projects worth Rp134.17 trillion with a road and bridge sector cooperation scheme between the government and business entities (PPP). In the 2021 State Budget, finance minister, Sri Mulyani Indrawati rises the infrastructure spending by 47 percent to Rp413.8 trillion from this year worth of Rp281.1 trillion to pursued several projects that had been delayed in 2020.
The state treasurer elaborated, the projects ranging from roads, land connectivity, bridges, airports, railways, water and energy, also information and technology. While, in this year, said public works and housing minister, Basuki Hadimuljono, the government prepared investment Rp395 trillion for toll road projects across the archipelago.
He added, the country offered nine toll road projects across the archipelago like Solo – Yogyakarta toll road with length 10 kilometers will begin the construction in September. The project need costs Rp16 trillion.
Hadimuljono reported, some of toll road projects have been build by the country such as Banda Aceh – Sigli with a length of 14 kilometers (km), Pekanbaru – Dumai along 131 km, Manado 21 km, Balikpapan – Samarinda 33 km. Then, part of Makassar toll road, Cibitung – Cilincing, Kriyan toll road in East Java will be inaugurated at the end of the year.
Indonesian government targeting to build 3,000 km new toll road across the country in five years time. President Joko Widodo said, in his first term, the country has build 720 km of toll road.
“In the next five years, we hope that we already have 5,000 km of toll roads. Therefore, we are still focusing on infrastructure development in addition to human resource development,“ he stated not long ago.
From 2015 to June 2019, the ministry has completed the operation of 985 km. From 1978 to June 2019, toll roads in Indonesia that have been fully constructed and operate have reached 1,780 km, the agency data showed.
Joko Widodo has the plan to integrate the management of toll road across the country. The toll adjustment is expected to address the needs of logistics actors and encourage trucks or containers to utilize toll roads thus reducing arterial road burden.
